  Missions Conference 2007

"A Changeless Message for a Changing World"

Hollis Center Baptist Church hosted a missions conference October 11-14, 2007. The theme of the conference was "A Changeless Message for a Changing World". Missionaries from all over the world came to share what God is doing in their ministries. Read about each one of them, and listen to their messages.

John Romano- Child Evangelism Fellowship of Maine, Inc.
John has served as the State Director of Child Evangelism Fellowship of Maine, Inc. since 1986. The ministry extends throughout the state of Maine and is involved directly in ministering to children through Good News Clubs, Camp Good News, and Christian Youth in Action.

John’s ministry was influenced by the birth of his own children. "Our own children were instrumental in impressing upon us the importance of a ministry to children. I did not want my children to share in my testimony of rebellion, but rather the testimony of Timothy, 'Who from a child knew the Scriptures which were able to make him wise unto salvation.'"

Calvin and Shelley Brain - SIM
Calvin and Shelley began serving in Namibia in January, 1994. A little over a year later, they moved to Angola, where they served the Menongue Bible Institute for just over a decade. During those ten years, they helped the school restructure its curriculum, rebuild their war torn facilities and establish several creative financing methods for supplementing the school finances. In addition, they were involved daily in the lives of the students, teaching them God’s word and sharpening their ministry skills.

They have begun a new phase of our lives as they await work permits for Namibia where they are to continue on in the writing, publication and distribution of Christian books for Pastors and Bible teachers in the Luchazi language.

Calvin and Shelly are both graduates from Columbia Bible College and have two daughters.
