LIGHTS MISSION STATEMENT

 

To glorify God by equipping families with biblical knowledge and wisdom and

 

encouraging them to train up their children in the manner that God would

 

have them raised. My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and

 

united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete

 

understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely,

 

Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

LIGHTS PURPOSE STATEMENT

 

The LIGHTS ministry of Hollis Center Baptist church exists to come alongside

 

families and equip them to grow to glorify God and increase in wisdom and

 

knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. We want to encourage families to grow,

 

and support them in their effort to train up their children in the

 

ways of the Lord. Our primary mechanism for doing this is a weekly time of

 

coming together for structured classes and time for fellowship and Bible

 

study.

LIGHTS meets on Monday mornings at the church. A normal day looks like

 

this:

 

• A chapel service starts the day, led by Pastor Ari. He often brings in

 

speakers to speak and share with the group. Announcements, Pledge of

 

Allegiance, and worship songs are included in this time.

 

 

•  There are three 45 minute periods of classes that are offered to the

 

students, and then taught by parents and others. Classes this year have

 

included Chemistry, Church History, Phys Ed, Fiber Arts, Anatomy, Bible,

 

Chemistry, Art, and others!

 

 

•  Lunch follows, and then volleyball is available for the teenagers as well as

 

a chess club for the younger students..

 

 

 

 

 

LIGHTS students fall into the following groups:

 

 

Twinklers (0- 2 Year Olds)

 

Firecrakers (2-3 Year Olds)

 

Sparklers (pre-school & 1 st grade)

 

  Blazers (2 nd to 4 th grade)

 

Beacons (5 th to 6 th grade)

 

  Stars (7 th to 8 th grade)

 

  Torchbearers (9 th to 12 th grade)
